Appointments
Most of my practice is virtual, with in-person appointments available in my DC office on a quarterly basis, or in my West Virginia and Maryland offices as requested. I do offer weekend intensives in Berkeley Springs to my groups and couples, and longer sessions to individuals coming from out of town. I have a full time office in Hancock, MD for people who want to see me in person on a regular basis.
Insurance and Payments
I do not currently accept insurance. You are expected to pay for each session directly. I accept payment via credit card, check, Zelle, and Venmo. I will provide you with the necessary information for you to submit a claim to your insurance company to receive any potential reimbursement from them.
Sometimes therapy can be a lengthy endeavor, and it is important to determine ahead of time what you are able to afford financially. While I do not offer a sliding scale, I am open to discussing financial constraints as they arise within the course of our work.

Getting Started
If you are considering working together, I welcome you to reach out to schedule an initial consultation. You can do that through my website, email (DrAlisonHoward@gmail.com) or by contacting me by phone at 202-368-3501.This first meeting is a space for us to begin getting to know each other and to think together about what you are seeking. We will talk about what has led you to consider therapy at this time, and you are encouraged to ask any questions you may have about the process.I approach this as a collaborative conversation, while also recognizing that depth-oriented work asks for a genuine commitment and a willingness to engage with emotional experience over time. Part of our consultation is to determine whether this way of working feels like a good fit for you. I usually suggest meeting twice to assess our compatibility, and in the second session I make recommendations for the treatment. If we decide to work together, we will establish a consistent time and begin the work.
